Psychometric Assessment

Psychometric assessment is a term used to describe the use of scientific methods to measure an individual’s cognitive functioning, strengths and difficulties, academic achievement, as well as behavioral style, adjustment and personality traits. Psychometric assessments are often recommended as they are useful in helping:

  • Identify areas where interventions/additional support would be beneficial.

  • Plan interventions.

  • To set realistic expectation of cognitive and academic potential.

  • Build on existing strengths.

  • Identify at risk individuals and implement appropriate support.

  • Determine the level of adjustment in order to provide sufficient support.

  • Provide formal diagnosis in order to acquire the correct support and interventions.

  • Increase understanding of behaviour and performance.

  • Determine eligibility for certain funding, accommodations and special support.
