Clinical Social Worker and Family Therapist
Helen Palmer is an accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Family Therapist. She is a clinical member of the Australian Association of Family Therapists. In addition to her Bachelor of Social Work qualification, Helen holds a Master of Science (Family Therapy). Helen is also skilled at using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focussed Therapy, Play Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Group Therapy.
Helen has had over 30 years’ experience working in both public and private sectors in the fields of child and adolescent mental health, adult mental health and perinatal mental health. She has treated a wide range of presenting problems including anxiety, OCD, sleep difficulties, school refusal, depression and post-natal depression, grief, trauma, abuse, child protection, child behaviour difficulties, parenting difficulties, relationship difficulties, adolescent self-harm, suicidal ideation, and eating disorders.
Helen works with individuals, couples or families, depending on the presenting difficulties, and aims to work together with her clients towards a healthier and happier way of functioning using evidence-based practice.
