Counselling Adolescents

The most important aspect of working with teenagers is to engage them. If there is no rapport then therapeutic work cannot occur. Working with difficult to engage or resistant clients is something we have the skills to manage at Port Psychology. Working with teenagers with depression and anxiety, from mild to severe is our specialty. We also have extensive experience working with individuals who self-harm, have suicidal thoughts or have more complex presentations such as bipolar disorder or are experiencing a psychotic episode.

Working with teenagers is different to working with adults. Just like working with children counselling or therapy needs to be engaging and interactive. We also work with families so they can understand what is happening to their teenager and how they can help in their teenager’s recovery.
